Act No. 20 of 2001.It is a
Public Company with only two shareholders namely: Government of Mauritius and
Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd. and therefore decisions are taken very
rapidly.

2) Financial
SLDC benefits from number of facilities with regards
to exemption of taxes and stamp duty. It has assets worth Billions of rupees.
It is already generating funds from the production of sugar and from leasing of
land for industrial development. The assets of SLDC are strategically located
in the conurbation along the Port Louis - Curepipe corridor, close to the
Capital city at La Tour Koenig and near to the Centre of the Village of Riviere
Du Rempart and Trou d'Eau Douce.As at 31st December 2004, the total value of
the immovable Assets of the Company amounted to Rs 1,5 Billion.
